What a couple of days!! After a day of traveling from San Antonio to Scandinavia, it was great to be welcomed by Nik as we exited the København airport. After a quick load up on the bus, it was over the Øresund Bridge and off to the Scandic to drop our things before heading off for some lunch. Lunch down by the docks gave us a beautiful view of the sound separating København (Copenhagen) and Malmö, and was bustling with locals. The area is a stunning display of contemporary architecture which is best exemplified by the Turning Torso. The evening walk took us down to Little Square where we took in a meal before we got to bed. It was a busy day, but the itinerary kept us from slowing down too much, and we held off the jet lag quite successfully.
After a reasonable night's sleep, we set off in the morning for a short walk over to Malmö IP, which is home to LdB FC Malmö, UEFA Champion's League semi-finalists last year. The girls did very well for our first real session back since spring. I think all of us are beginning to get VERY excited about the upcoming fall!
A short break for lunch bridged the session to a trip back across the sound to København for the day. Anyone reading this that hasn't been there, it is highly recommended! Beautiful historical sites blended with modern features set along The Lakes (Søerne) and lined with canals made for an incredible boat tour...and MANY photographs!
The group got some fitness training in walking all around the city, over to the Queen's residence for a rather comical changing of the guard, across to Marmorkirken (Frederik's Church) which has the largest dome of any church in Scandinavia. After that is was off across the city on foot to Tivoli Gardens, where a few entered and played, while others tucked into some local spots for a casual dinner before heading back to Malmö.
Tomorrow would be a second training session at Malmö IP, as we go through our final preparations leading up to Tuesday's match in Halmstad.
Stay tuned.....there are many more adventures upcoming for Trinity Soccer in Scandinavia!
